Student practices icing a cupcake at "Cupcakes at the Creek" camp

When a camp is called “Cupcakes at the Creek,” you’d expect to find something in the oven. However, campers can also use the lessons learned in places outside of the kitchen for years to come. The camp, based at Cane Creek Middle School, may seem focused on food, but the skills practiced can be applied in many different classes and situations.

Other members of their group are depending on them to try their best, because the final product is a reflection of everyone’s work. In fact, each batch of cupcakes starts with a lesson in teamwork, since the groups must come to an agreement about the flavor of cupcake they’ll make today.”
