The Enka community came out to support Pisgah Elementary School during its field day to celebrate another year of hard work and achievements of the students.

“We’ve got 11-and-a-half acres for the kids to play on to their heart's content,” said fourth grade teacher J.B. Halpin. “Today’s field day is a celebration of the end of the year. You can see how much they love it from the smiles on their faces.”

Activities were vast and varied, including Double Dutch, Hula Hooping, Limbo, Frisbee, sidewalk chalk, water balloon races, basketball and kickball, a water cup relay race, water blaster fights, and the classic parachute. The Upper Hominy Fire and Rescue Service came out as well, setting up a fun and very popular water slide with water from their fire truck.

Alongside the teachers and other volunteers to help on the field day were students from Enka High School, who came out to chaperone and play with the younger students.

“These are a great group of kids,” said Enka High senior Marley McCracken. “They make jokes, but they mind their manners. They’re just really fun to be with.”

“I totally recommend any high schoolers in the future to come and do this,” said senior Jose Jiminez-Ontario. “Kids can make you feel young again, which is great right before we leave high school.”
