The Buncombe County Schools Board of Education appointed Dr. Glenda Weinert to fill the vacancy for At-Large Representative at its meeting on June 6, 2024.
Dr. Weinert is a local business owner who has also served as an adjunct professor for UNC-Asheville, A-B Tech, and Lee University.
The At-Large seat was left vacant on May 15, 2024, when school board member Amanda Simpkins resigned for personal reasons. Ms. Simpkins’ term would have ended Nov. 30. Dr. Weinert will serve the remainder of that term.
Dr. Weinert will be sworn in in the coming days. Her first board meeting as the At-Large representative will be the special called board meeting June 27.
