Students singing a song in the musical Frog and Toad.

At Black Mountain Primary (BMP), anticipation filled the air as audiences packed the theater to see this year’s Primary Players production of “Frog and Toad”. For several months, the young cast of third graders poured their hearts into rehearsals. The play was to be a showcase of incredible talents and a delightful tradition for the school community.

Four students dressed as snails that work for the US postal service, also known as the snail mail postal workers. The school’s theater was transformed into the whimsical homes of Frog and Toad as they ventured through a year of changing seasons. The sweet musical showed the adventures of two lifelong friends, equipped with the talented singing talents of the students.

As the final scene unfolded, the cast gathered to sing a heartfelt song about friendship. Their voices, small but mighty, filled the auditorium with warmth and joy. As the last note faded, the crowd stood in unison, clapping and cheering the young performers.

The production of “Frog and Toad” at BMP was more than just a school play. It was a celebration of teamwork, creativity, and the joys of storytelling. The Primary Players continue to not only entertain their community, but also learn about confidence, friendship, and the magic of the theater.
