Nesbitt teacher Sumer Robinson on the Nesbitt terrace

Buncombe County Schools congratulates Nesbitt Discovery Academy math teacher Sumer Robinson, selected to participate in the Kenan Fellows Program for Teacher Leadership.

The program pairs teachers with industry partners for a three-week summer immersion experience. Ms. Robinson will be working with the Nantahala Outdoor Center. Through this opportunity, she’ll gain knowledge and resources to develop innovative lessons and programs for Buncombe County Schools.

In addition to the immersive experience, Kenan Fellows benefit from 80 hours of professional development focused on leadership and enhancing teaching practices.

Established in 2000 by the Kenan Institute for Engineering, Technology and Science at North Carolina State University, the fellowship offers K-12 educators STEM industry-based professional development, fostering education-business partnerships within local communities.
