A new initiative for future kindergarten students is rolling to a Buncombe County preschool near you.

The “Sunshine the Safety Bus” program is aimed to educate the newest members of Buncombe County Schools about school bus safety. Upcoming kindergarteners learn from BCS Transportation Director Jeremy Stowe and Assistant Director Seth Crooke about properly crossing the road in order to board the bus, features of the bus, and how to sit safely in the seat.

“It’s important we show children now about school bus safety so when it comes to the first day of school they know what to do when a BCS bus picks them up in the morning,” said Mr. Stowe. “I personally enjoy seeing their faces light up when Sunshine the Safety Bus pulls into their preschool.”

This educational version of Wheels on the Bus recently visited Donald S. Collins Early Learning Center in Black Mountain. Be on the lookout during April as Sunshine the Safety Bus comes to a preschool near you.

If you wish to schedule a visit please email Jeremy Stowe at jeremy.stowe@bcsemail.org
