A summer camp filled with connecting students to nature, hands-on skills, and professionals is underway in the heart of Fairview.

This summer Buncombe County Schools (BCS) Career and Technical Education (CTE) program partnered with Camp Grier which is over 276 acres of land that houses a camp infrastructure to provide rising 6th through 8th grade students a one-of-a-kind experience. The Career Accelerator summer camps offer students the opportunity to explore industries including woodworking, culinary arts, sewing, and much more.

“I am thrilled to offer our students a free camp filled with career exploration activities,” said CTE Director Taylor Baldwin. “We have local industry professionals and businesses coming each week to provide students with project based learning.”

The camp is happening now through August 3rd. This popular camp, which is completely full, is on the cutting edge of enhancing each student's learning experience.

“Every day students are learning skills that will prepare them for their future beyond BCS,” said Mr. Baldwin. “Students are exploring an outward bound style landscape with a wealth of opportunities in different career fields. There is truly nothing like this anywhere in the state.”
