Dr Jackson visits Haw Creek

Superintendent Dr. Rob Jackson spent the day in Rocket Country with a dynamic visit to Haw Creek Elementary as part of his #45SchoolsIn45Days tour around Buncombe County Schools.

According to Principal Jenny Klein: “At Haw Creek Elementary, we have 394 students and 68 staff working together to make our students successful. We have nurtured and worked hard to have strong family relationships with all of our students. We value the support of families as we continue to build our school community. The staff has reflected on the importance of the sense of our school family that supports them in their teaching and instruction and also the interests we share in each other's lives outside of school. We are proud of the strong academic reputation Haw Creek has maintained, and we have worked hard to build our student success as we get back to the business of school. We have included parent programs and the students have performed in a drumming night and 2nd and 3rd graders in a dinosaur musical this school year. As you walk through the remodeled school, you will notice and agree Haw Creek is a 'Showcase School of Learners and Leaders.' Our outdoor walking trail is unique to Haw Creek and offers time spent in our outdoor classroom, and we utilize the science stations along the trail to support outdoor learning.”
