North Carolina Outward Bound School (NCOBS) has delivered challenging adventure programs based in experiential education to people of all ages and walks of life. These programs help individuals discover their strength of character, ability to lead, and desire to serve. We are a nonprofit organization and are proud to be part of a national network of Outward Bound schools in the US and all over the world.
The OWEN HIGH course will consist of 5 days hiking and climbing in The Pisgah National Forest. The course will consist of 12 Owen Students and 2 Outward Bound Instructors. The tentative course dates will be June 13-17th. ANY Owen student is eligible to attend.

Owen students SERVE to LEAD ! This amazing group of students continues to inspire by leading in the community, leading by serving. Their latest service was at the Swannanoa Community Garden sponsored by the Friends and Neighbors of Swannanoa. The students helped prepare the planting beds for spring. The Community Garden grows food benefiting many in the neighborhood and has partnered with Bounty and Soul to provide fresh produce locally.
Owen District Town Hall hosted by BCS is tonight March 4th @6pm at Black Mountain Primary. We hope school families show up to ask great questions and to provide input as to the direction of this school district. "Do it for the Valley!" - as our community likes to say.

OHS PTO wants to invite parents and teachers to join us tonight at 5pm to help us plan events to show support to our school staff. We would also like to thank our Business Partners who are helping make these events possible. Owen is a wonderful community and the PTO is helping strengthen the ties between us.

Need Technical Support on the Virtual Learning Days ?
Here's some quick tips for helping your student work on-line
1) The number one request for help is about logging into "ZScaler" The zscaler log-in uses the student's UID (lunch number, computer username #, Powerschool #...it's all the same) @k12bcs.net. Again it is UID@k12bcs.net
2) If students were absent when the teacher explained how to get to their LMS (Google Classroom or Canvas) then remind students that if they log into IAM they can access both Canvas and their Google Drive. Also, if they seem to be having issues accessing their school Canvas or Google Classroom from bookmarks, have them log into IAM first.
3) If the student cannot log into their computer, they may have their UID wrong or their password. Call the BCS help desk if they are certain that they have the right information. 255-5987.
4) If the student can log into the computer but is still having difficulty with zscaler, Canvas, Google Classroom or with accessing their information, call the school (686-3852) and ask for the media specialist, Samantha Gallman. If the line is busy, you can e-mail samantha.gallman@bcsemail.org.
