YMCA Afterschool Care

Free Horizons Afterschool Program
For Intermediate and Middle School Students

Horizon provides a safe environment for middle school students outside of the traditional academic day. The program is designed to engage students in enrichment experiences and improve academic achievement while building leadership skills and confidence by empowering youth.

Horizons partners with many community organizations to provide fun and engaging activities. Students in Horizons get to cook in the FEAST club, enjoy the portable planetarium with the Asheville Museum of Science, or learn African Drumming or Circus with Leaf in Schools and Streets and perform at the LEAF festival in May. Horizons also supports school clubs led by teachers and facilitates Horizons clubs like Art, Sports, Photography, Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse and Creative Writing. There’s something for everyone at the YMCA Horizon program.

Horizons is funded through community and federal grants, making it no cost to families.
