Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP)

The Affordable Connectivity Program will stop accepting new applications and enrollments on February 7, 2024. It is important to note that current ACP enrollments and those approved from applications by February 7, 2024 will be funded until funds run out (Projected to run out by April 2024). The Affordable Connectivity Program provides:Up to

  • $30/month discount for broadband service;

  • Up to $75/month discount for households on qualifying Tribal lands; and

  • A one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet purchased through a participating provider if the household contributes more than $10 but less than $50 toward the purchase price.

The Affordable Connectivity Program is limited to one monthly service discount and one device discount per household.

A household is eligible for the Affordable Connectivity Program if the household income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, or if a member of the household meets at least one of the criteria below:

  • Received a Federal Pell Grant during the current award year;

  • Meets the eligibility criteria for a participating provider's existing low-income internet program.

Who is eligible? Participates in one of these assistance programs:

  • SNAP

  • Medicaid

  • Federal Public Housing Assistance

  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

  • WIC

  • Veterans Pension or Survivor Benefits

  • Lifeline

Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) Program

The EBB Program is a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) program that provides a temporary discount on monthly broadband bills for qualifying low-income households. Get more information about the EBB Program here.

Free Community WIFI

Skyrunner Internet Access Offer:

Skyrunner Internet in Asheville has broadband wireless service available in much of our school district including many locations that do not have cellular coverage.  To determine if this is an option at your location, complete this form or call them at 828-258-8562.  Skyrunner may also offer discounted services to qualifying households and families qualifying for free and/or reduced lunch.

Spectrum Internet Assist Offer:

AT&T Internet Access Offer:

The Affordable Connectivity Program is a federal government program that provides a benefit on home internet service for eligible households. Access from AT&T  provides low-cost internet service for eligible households—plans up to $30/mo. with speeds up to 100Mbps available. French Broad Electric Fiber Availability:

French Broad Electric Membership now has fiber connectivity available in several areas of Buncombe County.
